Wicker Chairs: They Are Lightweight, Stylish and Comfortable

Wicker furniture such as wicker chairs can be easily implemented into any kind of décor style. They fit especially well with tropical Bali, Victorian or Oriental décor schemes. Wicker is the art of weaving thin strands of wood together (commonly mistaken for a type of material) which makes wicker furniture very airy and light to move about.

There is a wide range of this type of furniture, from dining wicker chairs to bar stools, from indoor wicker chairs to outdoors. Wicker chairs come in a range of colors from black to white, all natural light tanned to dark mahogany brown. If you would like a sophisticated, high end tropical resort look, the dark colors such as black and dark brown will achieve this. Light browns are more homely and down to earth while white wicker chairs are for more of a traditional style.

When looking at wicker chairs you will see labels such as indoor use, limited exposure or outdoor use. Outdoor wicker chairs, otherwise known as all weather wicker chairs, will be the most durable and are commonly made out of resin. Resin however is not a natural material. Resin is used to make all-weather outdoor wicker furniture because it is highly durable even in rain or direct sunlight. Natural wicker, made from either rattan or bamboo, is best used indoors. This is because any natural wood needs to be taken care of a little more than the synthetics.  Some say natural wood makes wicker furniture look a lot better. But indoor wicker chairs can also be made from synthetic, highly durable resin. Limited exposure furniture is meant to be used under shaded patios or porches and in mild climates.

Natural wicker furniture needs to be carefully looked after. They cannot be put under direct sunlight and be placed in moist areas. It can become brittle and start to unweave. Though it needs to be taken care of a little more than resin wicker chairs, all natural can be easily maintained by using a damp cloth to wipe it down every now and again, avoid moist areas and direct sunlight.
